Club Committees

Organs of the Club

EXECUTIVE COUNCIL

  • Shall consist of all the Executive members of the Club under the relevant article of this constitution.
  • Shall be chaired by the President.
  • Shall prepare and present the Annual Budget to the General Assembly a month before the commencement of a new budget year.
  • Members shall present Annual Report on their respective portfolio by January general meeting.
  • Shall meet for at least once in a month.
  • Shall see to the effective management of the club.
  • Quorum at Executive Council meeting shall be by simple majority.
  • Act as Liaison between the Club, other progressive club and the public.

 

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

  • Shall consist of 7 members constituted as follows:

The Vice President as Chairman, Secretary General as Secretary and 5 members recommended by the Executive Council of which at least 2 must be former Presidents.

  • The recommended members shall be subject to the approval of the house.
  • Shall recommend offending member(s) for disciplinary action to the Executive Council. The Executive Council will therefore present its recommendations to the General Assembly.
  • Shall screen prospective member(s) and make recommendations to the General Assembly for ratification through the Executive Council.
  • Shall recommend service awards for approval by the General Assembly.

 

SOCIALS/PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE

  • Shall consist of 7 members constituted as follows:

The Director of Socials and Public Relations as Chairman, Director of Finance & Treasury as member, Deputy Secretary General as Secretary and 4 other members recommended by the Executive Council of which 2 must be former Socials and Public Relations Directors.

  • The recommended members shall be subject to the approval of the General Assembly.
  • Shall be responsible for all Socials and Public Relations activities of the club.
  • Shall submit proposal of its activities for ratification by the General Assembly.
  • Shall submit report and render proper accounts of its stewardship to the General Assembly monthly.

 

FINANCE COMMITTEE

  • Shall consist of 7 members constituted as follows:

Director of Finance and Treasury as the Chairman, Deputy Secretary General as Secretary and 5 other recommended members by the Executive Council of which at least 2 must be former Directors of Finance and Treasury.

  • Shall raise funds for the Club as may be approved.
  • Shall advice the Executive Council on preparation of annual budget.
  • Shall assist the Director of Finance & Treasury to recover debts from members and other donors.
  • Shall meet at least once in a month and render its report to the General Assembly through the Executive Council.

 

AUDIT COMMITTEE

  • Shall consist of 5 members who are knowledgeable in the field of accounts or allied disciplines.
  • Shall audit the Finance books of the Club annually and at any other time it is deemed necessary.
  • Shall present to the General Assembly financial reports of its findings not later than April general meeting.
  • Shall owe all allegiance to the General Assembly.
  • Shall be constituted by the General House at a general meeting.

 

PROJECTS/DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

  • Shall consist of 7 members.
  • Shall see to the development, maintenance and renovation of the Club’s landed projects whenever the need arises.
  • Shall be responsible for the planning and the execution of the infrastructural development of the Club.
  • Shall render monthly report to the Club through the Executive Council to the General Assembly.
  • Shall perform other assignment incidental to its portfolio as may be decided by the General Assembly.

 

SECRETARIAL ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE

  • Shall consist of 5 members chaired by the Secretary General.
  • Shall create and manage a functional administrative office for the club.
  • Shall manage and ensure sustenance of quarterly lectures.
  • Shall organize lectures, seminars and symposia on interesting and contemporary issues.
  • Shall organize Quiz/Debate competitions among schools.
  • Shall perform other assignments as may be deemed fit by the General Assembly.

 

WELFARE COMMITTEE

  • Shall consist of 5 members.
  • Shall advice the club through the Executive Council what her welfare package should be to needy member(s) who must have sought for such assistance.
  • Shall fashion out a blueprint on humanitarian activities of the club especially to the deprived and indigent members of the public.
  • Shall collect welfare donations on behalf of the club and advice her on the best way to manage the fund.
  • Shall perform all other assignments that may be incidental to its portfolio.

 

MACE ELECTORAL COMMISSION

  • Shall consist of 3 members who will not vie for any elective post.
  • Shall conduct free and fair election(s).
  • Shall be appointed by at least 2/3 majority of members in attendance at a general meeting of the Club.
  • Shall be inaugurated and be sworn-in by the President 2 months before the election.
  • Shall be subject to dissolution immediately the Executive Council members were sworn-in by MEC Chairman.
  • Shall swear-in the elected officers not later than 30 days after Election Day.
  • Shall present report of the elections at the next meeting of the club not later than 60 days after election.

 

AD-HOC COMMITTEE(S)

  • The President shall have the power to set up Ad-hoc Committee(s) for the purpose of executing emergency assignment(s).
  • The committee shall comprise of 3 or 5 members with the President naming its Chairman and Secretary.
  • Shall be approved by the house before its inauguration.
